L.Tibilov: Georgia’s Aggression was a War to Destroy the Ossetian People
South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov said the Georgian aggression in August 2008 was a "war to destroy the Ossetian people."
According to him, now Georgians and Ossetians live together without problems in the republic, but with the Georgian authorities South Ossetia "has and can have no relationship".
"It is necessary that the Georgian side signs a document on the non-use of force against South Ossetia and Abkhazia. For the fourth year, we have talked about it, but they do not want to sign," said the head of the republic.
When asked how he assesses the possibility of merging the two Ossetias, Tibilov said that Ossetia is one but it was "divided by some decisions" during the formation of the USSR. According to him, in the long term the republic will be integrated in Russia.
