Shoigu told about new threats to Russia

Speaking at the Collegium of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Defense Minister, Army General Sergei Shoigu outlined the new challenges and threats to Russia's military security having emerged in recent years.

Shoigu explained that the military are growing concerned about the "deployment of the global Ballistic Missile Defense System and its components near Russian borders, the creation of new effective means of conventionally-armed precision weapons, the militarization of outer space," noting that in this regard, the Ministry of Defense is forced to retaliate.

"Russian President has assigned tasks of ensuring the defense of the country in the new conditions: further strengthening of our nuclear triad, the formation of a global intelligence system, including space group, the development of general-purpose forces - Aviation, Navy and Land forces," the General added.
