The Pyotr Veliky provided transportation of Syrian chemical weapons
According to reports by the press service and information of the RF Defense Ministry, the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Pyotr Veliky took part in providing the second phase of transportation of Syrian chemical weapons. The operation took place in conjunction with warships of China, Denmark and Norway.
"The ships in designated sectors have provided the convoy of two special transport ships "Ark Futura" and "Taiko", the report says.
The RF MOD recalled that on January 7, the Pyotr Veliky in collaboration with a Chinese guard ship took part in ensuring the safe transportation of the first batch of Syrian chemical weapons from the port of Latakia to the destination station.
The action coordination of foreign naval ships involved in providing safe transportation of Syrian chemical weapons is carried out by the Coordinating headquarters stationed on board the Pyotr Veliky cruiser. The headquarters consists of representatives of the warships command of China, Denmark and Norway.
