34th Russian Humanitarian Aid Convoy Departs for Ukraine
The 34th humanitarian aid convoy that Russia has assembled for residents of Ukraine's southeast (Donbass) since August 2014 is headed for the border with Ukraine, a representative of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said.
"There are over 100 vehicles in the convoy that are carrying over 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian cargo," the representative said, adding that the Russian aid includes food, medicine and school textbooks for children.
The convoy will deliver the aid to the Donetsk and Lugansk regions that have been severely affected by fighting between Kiev forces and independence supporters, which started in April 2014.
Overall, Russia has sent over 41,000 metric tons of humanitarian aid to Donbass since August, 2014.
