Putin: Russia will Develop Partnership Relations with Iran
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulates Hassan Rouhani on winning the presidential election. The Russian leader expressed his confidence that the sides will continue active joint work to develop Russian-Iranian cooperation.
According to Vladimir Putin, Russia confirms its readiness to continue intensive activities to further develop Russian-Iranian partnerships. Moscow and Tehran will continue to work to maintain stability and security in the Middle East and around the world.
In addition, Putin stressed that the agreements reached during the visit of Rouhani to Russia in March will be successfully implemented.
Heads of state and government of many countries sent congratulations to Hassan Rouhani on reelection for the second presidential term including the leaders of Azerbaijan, Britain, India, China, Oman, Pakistan, Syria and Tajikistan. The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, also congratulated the Iranian leader on a convincing victory.
Presidential elections in Iran were held on May 19, 2017. The winner is the current President Hassan Rouhani, who received more than 57% of the vote.
