Who Needs Such Democracy?
Part 2. Ukraine and Georgia – Payment for Naivety
25.08.2008 17:40
The situation in Ukraine with its pro-American “orange” democracy cannot be even compared with the time of Leonid Kuchma, when the country enjoyed PEACE and STABILITY, such sweet and long-forgotten words…
President of Ukraine Victor Yuschenko relies on a minimum support of population. And all “orange” politicians in aggregate today would hardly receive more than fifty per cent of the votes. Yuschenko knows it very well!
He knows how many people want to communicate in Russian, how many people regard Russia not as an enemy but as the closest friend, how many people do not want to bow to the West begging for admittance to the European Union, how many people speak flatly against the idea of Ukraine’s membership in NATO. So what? As he spoke “on behalf of the whole nation” so he is speaking now; as he pushed the nation to the internal bloody conflict, so he is doing now simultaneously destroying the entire infrastructure of the economy and making a mess practically in all social institutions.
He cannot be blamed legally: he observes the procedures!! Everything is legal! He is a president of a democratic country elected by the democratic procedures. He is a strong defender of the democracy. And any Western country would defend him! If you are against Yuschenko, you are against the democracy, against its fundamentals, against the mankind… And it is not a fable - I heard it thousand times from Western and domestic pseudo-democrats. The rhetoric of these gentlemen is trite and primitive down to nausea! But we “listen and eat it”…
Who does need such “democracy” if the inflation rate in the country indicates the collapse of its economy?!
Who does need such “democracy” when the spheres of education and culture became a miserable mockery of them?!
Who does need such “democracy” when the Russian language used by more than fifty per cent of the population is classified as “foreign”?!
Who does need such “democracy” when the country is in the process of split into two hostile camps – Ukrainian-speaking and Russian-speaking parts – with a rather evident dramatic prospect?!
Who does need such “democracy” when the people feel it more and more clearly in what POSE we are standing before our overseas benefactor simultaneously speaking about a mythic “independence”?!
Who does need such “democracy” when our quarrel with the closest neighbor, Russia, reached the intensity of war?!!!
I, as a citizen of Ukraine, hereby claim that I DO NOT NEED SUCH DEMOCRACY THAT NOT ONLY FAILED TO GRANT ADDITIONAL RIGHTS AND LIBERTIES TO ME BUT DEPRIVED ME OF THOSE I HAD IN THE “PRE-DEMOCRATIC” TIME!
My wife said recently: “I am scared: I start hating my native country…”
Why could such happen? Because the Yuschenko’s policy is built on elementary deception. If he and his “orange” gang had told us from the very beginning about their plans to implement the US project to secure its interests in the Slavic world and destroy Russia hated by the States, how many votes would have they got? Just a few. Therefore they had to tell lies, speak about the Western democracy as about the only alternative of state development, “manna from heaven”. So, the people believed in their words… Of course, not all, but many. However, later the deception became evident, but the deal has been made already – many destructive processes in Ukraine became irreversible…
The second example. Today’s Georgia headed by Mikhail Saakashvili is a PAIN, PAIN and PAIN of the whole Eurasian world. Now it is difficult to find a political leader, who contributed more to unleashing the war in the post-Soviet area. But he is a democrat! He is a creature of America, which is “a citadel of democracy”! He fights against “the anti-democratic regime” of Russia!..
It seems that the West will cover his ass even he would massacre the entire population of South Ossetia and Abkhazia… And he already started implementing this idea! BUT HE WAS STOPPED… And we see WHAT the response of the West was to the fact of genocide in South Ossetia. They said: “There is no genocide there! Instead, there is a Russian military aggression against sovereign democratic Georgia!” So there!
This tragedy is caused likewise in Ukraine by the efforts of the United States to deploy its missiles as close to the Russian border as possible, to encircle it with an iron ring and dictate its conditions. It was so much written and spoken about , and it seems that EVERYBODY should be aware of this cause including in Georgia. But the Georgian rulers again tell lies to carefully conceal the true cause with “aspirations to democratic transformations” and “protection” of them against internal (pro-Russian Ossetians and Abkhazians) and external (Russians) enemies.
We observe a clear trend. Do you want to distress a post-Soviet country and bring it to the war with Russia? Launch the idea of “immediate democratization” there and strongly tie it to the mono-national idea, in so doing, of course do not forget to properly fund the respective campaign.…
A similar scenario was launched both in Ukraine and in Georgia. By using the up-to-date political technologies the focus was placed on two steps:
1) whip up jingo nationalist sentiments, and
2) raise the ideas of Western democracy to the rank of “a sacred caw”.
In other words – mix the nationalist sentiments with the ideas of the West and get an explosive mixture! What is the target of this mixture? Of course, Russia! It ideally suits to the role of such enemy. Because Russia is a country that:
1) claims a role of Super Power and inevitably pulls smaller neighbors in the sphere of its influence, and
2) traditionally stands in opposition to the West. The man who designed this mixture is an intellectual genius! But did he think about all consequences of this political adventure?..
Both Yuschenko and Saakashvili properly suit to the role of starring characters in this performance. What is common between them? An absolute inconsistency and inadequacy in protection of interests of their own nations, and amazing consistency and adequacy in protection of American and Western interests. Both of them hate everything Russian and love the West, both of them are extremely vainglorious, hot-blooded and perfectly skilled in the demagogy, i.e. deception.
The number of Russians in Ukraine is much more than in Georgia, and naturally “the glory” of Yuschenko is slightly lower than that of his godfather , yet there are enough pro-Western forces in Ukraine to make it a powder barrel.
A recent meeting of leaders from Ukraine, Baltic countries and Poland in Tbilisi where they condemned “the military intervention of Russia” could be hardly described in other words but a SABBATH OF DARK FORCES, forces of chaos and fragile peace grave diggers. What did they call their peoples for? For the war with Russia! It is hysteria already…
Yesterday I hardly believed that Ukraine may split into two and more countries. After the Tbilisi’s Sabbath I am almost confident of it. In fact Ukraine will split as soon as Yuschenko will give an order to the army to fire at Russians. But! NEVER Russians will fight against Russians! NEVER the Russian-speaking East of Ukraine will bow to the orange fascist politicians! And if they want the war it will cost them TOO MUCH.
Today certain Ukrainian politicians scream that Russia will treat the Crimea as it treats South Ossetia. But do they understand WHAT they say? What did the armed conflict in Georgia start with? With the barbarous bombing of peaceful Tskhnivali! Do these “patriots” want to say that Yuschenko is ALREADY brooding over plans of genocide against Russians in Sevastopol?.. Thus, “without a moment’s hesitation” they exasperate enmity mixed with the fear of their powerful neighbor. The device is not new but very efficient.
The actual leaders of Ukraine, Georgia, Baltic countries and Poland feature irresponsibility and lack of common sense. In fact they prepare the hell not to Russia but to own nations.
The most awful thing is that many people just surrender to emotional speeches of their leaders. They feel inflow of patriotic sentiments and get ready to take arms, but never think about tomorrow. Nobody makes any critical analysis or at least elementary forecast of the nearest future when their countries will become a NATO firing range.
It will be too late to think WHAT these leaders said and what devices they used after the war starts. The people will have to pay for their stupidity. The Ukrainian people ALREADY pay very high price for their invigilance, in so doing many of them start understanding that this payment is just peanuts comparing with the price we will have to pay when we become the cannon fodder in the military conflict of two civilizations. That time few people will care about the democracy. This subject will sink in the sea of more urgent matters – HOW TO SURVIVE IN THIS HELL.
May be for all of us it is better to think about it NOW when it is not too late to rectify something rather than to wait until the moment when there will be nothing to be rectified and nobody to do it… .
